Triangle Pillow ......

I had a few triangles leftover from the TQA, and a little bit of time before Mother's Day, so I made a pillow cover (envelope back) to go along with the Triangle Quilt that I'm giving my mom.

Triangle Quilt FINISHED!

YAY!!  FINISHED!!

(Picture Overload Alert!)

I've been working on the Triangle Quilt Along with Paula @ The Sassy Quilter for .... oh, about six weeks now I think.  (It doesn't really seem like that long!) 

I picked my fabrics ..........

Cut them out .......

Got them on the design wall ....

Started sewing them together ....

My backing fabric arrived ....

 

My top got finished ...

I got it quilted and started attaching the scrappy binding ... 

And now .... FINISHED!!

My Mom always "needs one of those" whatever I'm making, so this time she's getting it.  

She has seen snippets of it when Gabbie would be looking at pics on my phone, but she doesn't get to get a good look at it (Gabbie doesn't let anyone else hold my phone!) so hopefully this will be a surprise.

Triangle fabrics: cotton quilting prints purchased in store at Hancock Fabrics.
Backing: "New York State of Mind Brick Wall Grey by Bernatex, online @ Fabric.com
Thread: Aurifil 50 wt Color 2615
Binding: scrappy, from leftover triangle prints.
All sewn and quilted in my living room on my Brother cs6000i. 
Approximate size (before washing) 54" x 62"

Triangle Quilt ... Progress ....

Got my backing last week for my triangle quilt.  Got it pieced last night.

It's  "New York State of Mind / Brick Wall Grey / Bernatex" and I ordered it from Fabric.com

And if you missed it ..... here is the finished top.

Not looking forward to basting ... but I am looking forward to having a finished quilt.  

I loved my fabrics when I purchased them and took the first photos for the quilt-along.  As I begin cutting and laying out, I wasn't real happy with them.  Everyone was very complimentary along the way though (thank you all!) and when I finally got it done and got outside to take a pic, I liked it again.

I think I'm going to be really happy with the finished product.  (Although I still have find a binding fabric!) 

I'm going to call this one "Garden Wall".  I think my Mom will get this for Mother's Day. Shhhhh, don't tell her! (She's actually seen pics of it along the way, but it will still be a surprise to get it.)

TQA - Week Three - Piecing Rows

Week three of the Triangle Quilt Along.

I finally got all my triangles cut out and onto the design wall. 

(My design wall is simply a twin sized batting thumbtacked to the wall in my hallway.  Not ideal, but working for now.) 

Three rows pieced and sewn together so far.  I'm hoping I can get at least two more done each night this week.

I am sooooooo excited about how my points are lining up!!  

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's finished tops.  I don't have an exact count but I think there must be over 100 of us in the quilt along, and I haven't seen any two that come close to being the same!  It's so exciting!

I'm a little behind because of being on vacation last week.  But I'll get caught up soon I hope.  Although after cutting these triangles, this may turn into a baby quilt rather than a lap sized quilt.

TQA (Triangle Quilt Along) - Week One

I'm doing the TQA with Paula @ The Sassy Quilter.  

Week One is for signing up and sharing our fabrics.  

I bought mine a few weeks ago actually, but just finally took a somewhat decent pic of them today.  

I went in search of a pink / turquoise variety, but when I didn't find what I wanted in that I just grabbed a couple of prints I really liked and when I saw they both had black in them, I followed through with fabrics that all have a bit of black or grey in them .

I got my triangle ruler several weeks ago (right after Paula announced the quilt-along) from JoAnn's (online) for half price with something like $1.29 shipping and I used eBates and got 4% cash back!  Yay me!  

This is going to be a great way for me as a newbie to learn something new, to share with all my newest bestest friends and quilters, and there are prizes too!!

It's not too late to join!!  It's gonna be fun!!
