Sweet Baby Girls ...

I've been refashioning or upcycling or being thrifty (or all of the above) lately.

This is a men's dress shirt refashioned into a toddler dress.

You cant see in these pictures but I also made her some little matching panties/diaper cover from the sleeves of the shirt.

This sweet girl is a boon to my sewing ego.  Every time I show her something new I have made for her she immediately starts pulling off her clothes and putting on her new ones.

She is also learning lots of new words now (she'll be two next week) and thankfully "Gamma" is one of her favorite words!

And this one is a big kids tshirt refashioned into a toddler top.

So far this one's favorite two words are "doggie" and "cookie".  But she'll be saying "Gamma" before you know it (because this Gamma is working really hard on teaching her!)

Actually "cookie" might be her word for "Gamma" because every time she visits my office she reaches toward my desk drawer and says "cookie"!  (Yeah, this Gamma keeps a stash!)

Year End ....

2014 saw a lot of big events for the babies in our family.

Our first baby started Kindergarten this year.  She is doing wonderful and loving every minute of it.  Her speech is improving daily, and she's growing up so fast.

We added this sweet baby to our family this year ......

And she is already so grown up!

And this sweet girl found out she is going to be a big sister!  So we are really looking forward to 2015!

Getting them all to sit still for a pic on Christmas Eve was quite the chore.  And next year we will have another one to add in the mix.  Yay!  This has been a very good year for this Gamma!

Here's to 2015!

A Busy Busy Week(end)

It's been a busy long weekend around my house!!

I've been making things in anticipation of adding items to a new shop that is opening near me that will have a selection of things from local craft vendors.  They've invited several of us to come tomorrow night to see the space (almost finished with the renovation) and find out a little bit about how things will work.

I've made Alabama and Auburn reversible dresses (because I live in the heart of Alabama and the rivalry is huge!)   The dresses are completely reversible.

I made bloomers for this one because it is if Ivy Rose, but I will not be making any more size 3mo bloomers!  Just too fidgety to work with!!  (I will try a 6 month size maybe)

I also made her a sleep sack.
It works well, but I will make the neckline a little lower on the next one.  And BabyGurl has asked for a lighter weight one (this one was made with some scraps of fleece, so I will use flannel on the next one.)

And another new pattern I tried.  I did not like sewing with gathers 30 years ago, and I still do not like it!  :-)

Some baby love.

And some more baby love.
(Ignore my crazy expression, I was talking to Sadie when BabyGurl snapped the pic.)

And look who can touch the bottom of the pool this year!!  Oh my!

She had to have "Ewik's" sunglasses.  She's such a diva (sometimes)!

And Miss Ivy Rose went for her one month (34 days old) checkup today and she is 9 lb 4 oz and 22 inches.  (She has grown three pounds and three inches!!!!)

She's on her way to visit me now, so there'll be pictures on the next blog update!

Babies, Dresses, and Baseball ...

Welcome to a new week.  It's been a busy one but not a lot of sewing.  I did make these little dresses a couple of weeks back, and finally got them gifted and the Momma's got me some pictures.

I had to make Ivy Rose a second one because the first one was too big.  I made it by the 0-3 months pattern and she was only just over six pounds so it swallowed her whole!  I cut it down just a little and made her another and it was a perfect fit.  (She also got a bib, which Sadie does not need)

Here are my sweet baby girls in their matching dresses.

And a couple more pics, just for good measure ...

Our Gabbie-Lou-Who also had her very first ever baseball game on Saturday.  She plays with the Field of Angels league.

Great picture of Gabbie and her "buddy".

Check out my right hand sidebar for all the great places I am linking up to this week!

And don't forget, there's a back to school sale going on in the Etsy Shop.  Use code SCHOOL14 for 14% off your entire order (excluding shipping).  Valid until August 14, 2014.

Tuesday!

Yeah, I know, the title isn't very creative.  It's early.  I haven't had enough coffee yet.

Finished this top over the weekend.  Used the Line Dance Pattern from Moda Bake Shop.  This top goes together quickly and easily.  I'm sure I will be using this one again.

The charm squares are April Showers and the blue is Bella Solids Royal.

I wasn't sure what I would back it in, then I remembered this flannel I bought on my recent shopping excursion, and it matches beautifully.  I plan to bind it in something red, but I don't know exactly what yet.

And Saturday we had Sweet Sadie's first birthday party.  She really enjoyed it!

Mid-Week Update ....

I don't have much going on in the way of sewy WIP's this week, thanks to a wonderful weekend spent snuggling this little bunny and kissing those cheeks til I was getting the "Gamma! Enough!" look from those big bright eyes.

And after church I had two sweet girls riding home with me.

I did manage to whip up this little noteboook cover that I plan to give to a cousin tonight who had a birthday a couple of weeks ago.  (Hey, those belated, unexpected presents are the best kind, right?)

Then there's this one I whipped up for myself this morning before work (well, I almost got it done).

And I'm loving how quick and easy this is so I'm going to make up a few more in fun fabrics for some of my <gasp!> non-football friends!

I used this great, easy to follow tutorial for the notebook covers.

I'm looking forward to trying different fabrics and embellishments on them.

Also, don't forget - until midnight Thursday (March 20) everything in the Etsy Store is 10% off with the code SEWY10 (discount does not apply to shipping).

Long Time No Blog ...

I've been kinda busy late with non-sewing stuffs.
But I've loved every minute of it.

I did make another bag, showed it off on facebook and it got snatched right up.
This is the Words fabric from the On Time Collection by Windham.
I also have some of the Clocks fabric from the same collection I am going to make another one from.  I was kind of liking this one and going to keep it for myself, but when I got a chance to sell it, I thought "hey, I can buy more fabric!"  :-)

I'm going to be joining a quilt along with Paula at The Sassy Quilter.  You should come join along too. I've sort of an idea of what fabrics I want to use, and am hoping to get to do some shopping next weekend, but I realized I have a fallback if I don't find anything I want.

I got this bundle of Keep It Sassy by Olive Sandwiches a couple of months ago and I think it would be great for this quilt.

Looking forward to getting back into the quilting and blogging worlds.  Though I'll certainly still be taking some cuddling, snuggling, playing with cute kid breaks along the way.

Welcome 2014!

Here's to new projects!

I got this fabric in the mail a few weeks ago, but just didn't have time to break into it until last week.

The layout below is the one I've decided to go with.
It makes the best use of the squares I have, without having to purchase another charm pack.

I am using this tutorial (but I used three charm packs instead of two).

And, my most recent purchase from Fat Quarter Shop!  I got on the waiting list for this one so I could get it right away.  I don't know yet what I will make with it, but it will be for ME!

This was Gabbie-Lou-Who's baby doll quilt.  I forgot to take a pic of it after it was finished.  I also forgot to take pics of the taggy/lovey thingies that I made for her baby doll and for *Sadie Mae.

This was a quick project I made for Gabbie at the last minute.  I made one for her house and one for my house.

And these are two of the gifts I got from my kids.  Yes, the both got me the same thing, and neither knew the other had done so until I was opening gifts!  :-)

I also got this from my son.  I was so excited!  I had to keep slapping my dad's hands away from it til I could get it loaded into my car!

I have used it, taken it apart and cleaned it, and put it back together (though I have to say the putting back together would've been much easier with three hands instead of two!)

Gabbie Lou doing a little sewing on NYE.
(She 'sews' with scraps, rulers, and pencils)

And of course, a happy baby picture!

And her first taste of her MawMaw's (great grandmother's) mashed potatoes. They were a hit!

Linking up with NTT this week!

*Sadie Mae's real name is Sadie Lynn.  But Gamma can call her whatever she wants, right?
