Friday Finish

Just a quick finish to show today.

My niece asked me a while back for a purse like the ones I've been making for everyone.  I told her what kind and how much fabric to get and she picked out her own designs / colors and brought them to me.  She ended up buying fabric for two purses. 

This week I finally got a chance to make one of them for her.  

I've also made some crib bumpers for Sweet Sadie, but I have no pictures of those.  Hopefully I will get them to her this weekend and we can get some pics of them in the crib.  They turned out pretty good.  I didn't do anything fancy, just picked out some cute fabrics to use.

Friday Finishes ...

I have a couple of finishes this week.  

First up, tshirt dresses for Gabbie-Lou-Who and Sweet Sadie.  

Next time I'll make the skirts fuller, but otherwise I'm pleased.  

Second up is another pleated purse.  It was a commission for a friend of a friend and unforseen circumstances made her unable to take it so it is listed here in the Etsy Shop.  

Now, on to finish up a diaper bag and some blankets, bibs, burp cloths and all that jazz for the soon to arrive Ivy Rose!

WIP's Wednesday

I actually have several projects going on right now.  

Last week Gabbie-Lou-Who and I went to Hobby Lobby for the makings of some little matching dresses for her and Sadie Mae* to wear to wear to church this coming up Sunday (when I will be babysitting Sadie). 

We I had hoped for matching tshirts but Gabbie insisted on the blue and there was no blue in Sadie's size.  There was pink in Gabbie's size but she was having no part of it.  And truthfully, blue is a great color on her.

So this is where I am so far.  All I have to do to finish Sadie's is attach the skirt.  I did mange to get it pinned while I was at lunch today (I'm fortunate to work two miles from home so I can take a little break from the office at lunch time vs eating in the breakroom/kitchen area).  

Tonight I will measure Gabbie so I will know where to cut the tshirt and how long to make the skirt.  

I've made a few teacher gifts for Gabbie's daycare/preschool teachers.  She has been with them for nearly four years and they have really been a blessing.  They love her like their own and we often kid that she is the assistant director at the day care. 

I have four done and enough fabric for one more.  But I think I need about eight of them, so I have to decide whether to order more of the same, or just use something on hand.  I do have some more school themed fabric, and I don't think they are going to argue over who gets what fabric.  I really wish I could do more for them than a notebook cover, but when you're making for eight ..... 

This is BabyGurl's diaper bag, partially cut out.  I have about four more weeks til her baby shower so I'll be good to go by then.  (Of course I also want to do some blankets, and bibs, and ..... )

And this is another purse like the one I did for my DIL for Christmas.  She has a friend who wants one.  I have it cut out and interfaced so it wont take long to stitch it up.  

And this is my sewing table with all the projects piled on it!  Oh my!

Zip It!

I actually made these little cuties over a week ago, but am just now getting a chance to blog them (though I did put them on facebook).

I was eating my way through Franklin TN last week.
(Yes, that is what I do on vacation - eat!) 

I used this pattern and it is so easy!!
(Who knew I could actually like zippers!)

And then I stayed up way too late the night before I left on vacation making a matching purse.  I've made several of these, but none for myself yet. It was really great on vacation because I could tuck all my small purchases in here and not carry so many shopping bags.

And now I have to work double time to catch up on the TQA!

Bag Lady ...

I think I may be the official Bag Lady.  

After I made DIL's purse for Christmas my mom 'needed' one.  

And my aunt could 'really use' one too.  

My mom got hers first of course.   I mean, she is my mom ya know.  

I also made on that was going to be for me, but as soon as I posted a pic of it, someone wanted it so I sold it on Etsy.

I finally finished one for my aunt this week.  My mom and dad are having lunch with my aunt tomorrow and will gift it to her for me. 

I also made her one of those cute little dumpling pouches.

And I made this pillow case for a friend's daughter, AB.  

AB recently started having night fears and is having trouble sleeping.  AB and her mom pray every night and have asked for their friends to pray too, so when I saw this fabric earlier in the week I knew it would be perfect for a pillowcase for AB.  

I'll be gifting it to her (via a friend of a friend) this evening.

Long Time No Blog ...

 I've been kinda busy late with non-sewing stuffs.

But I've loved every minute of it.  

I did make another bag, showed it off on facebook and it got snatched right up.  

This is the Words fabric from the On Time Collection by Windham. 

I also have some of the Clocks fabric from the same collection I am going to make another one from.  I was kind of liking this one and going to keep it for myself, but when I got a chance to sell it, I thought "hey, I can buy more fabric!"  :-)

I'm going to be joining a quilt along with Paula at The Sassy Quilter.  You should come join along too. I've sort of an idea of what fabrics I want to use, and am hoping to get to do some shopping next weekend, but I realized I have a fallback if I don't find anything I want.  

I got this bundle of Keep It Sassy by Olive Sandwiches a couple of months ago and I think it would be great for this quilt.  

Looking forward to getting back into the quilting and blogging worlds.  Though I'll certainly still be taking some cuddling, snuggling, playing with cute kid breaks along the way.

For My Mom ...

My mom oooh'd and aaaaaah'd over the purse I made my DIL for Christmas, and hinted (well no, she said outright) that she wanted one ... so finally, here it is.  

Along with a couple of zipper pouches. 

I used this pattern / tutorial for the purse.

Just a little something to help me get through a Monday at work ...

Even though I made her this one for her birthday in September .....

I now have to make her one like the one I made for my DIL for Christmas.  

She has told me about ten times since then that she needs one "that size".  In fact, if it had been for anyone other than my DIL my Mom might have taken it away from her!
