Connectivity ...

Due to Internet issues (I no longer have Internet at home) I haven't been blogging lately. It's just too difficult on my itty bitty phone.  I'm also not able to utilize facebook.

I am posting quite a bit on Instagram though so feel welcome to follow me there. www.instagram.com/sewystuff

I do still follow all your blogs via Bloglovin, I'm just not able to contribute right now.

WIP Wednesday

This week I am working on a set of baby bed bumpers for my soon to be born (in about two weeks) grandson.  He will be my third grandbaby, but my first grandson.  No, he wont be spoiled.  Well, at least not one bit more than the two girls are!

Three done, three more to go.  Trying to get them done this week so I can take them Saturday when we go to his big sister's second birthday party.

These are bad nighttime indoor photos.  Hopefully I can get some good ones when they go on his baby bed.

Sweet Baby Girls ...

I've been refashioning or upcycling or being thrifty (or all of the above) lately.

This is a men's dress shirt refashioned into a toddler dress.

You cant see in these pictures but I also made her some little matching panties/diaper cover from the sleeves of the shirt.

This sweet girl is a boon to my sewing ego.  Every time I show her something new I have made for her she immediately starts pulling off her clothes and putting on her new ones.

She is also learning lots of new words now (she'll be two next week) and thankfully "Gamma" is one of her favorite words!

And this one is a big kids tshirt refashioned into a toddler top.

So far this one's favorite two words are "doggie" and "cookie".  But she'll be saying "Gamma" before you know it (because this Gamma is working really hard on teaching her!)

Actually "cookie" might be her word for "Gamma" because every time she visits my office she reaches toward my desk drawer and says "cookie"!  (Yeah, this Gamma keeps a stash!)

I have the shorts done on the third set, and half the top cut out.  I have to go get more red fabric tomorrow.  I hope they still have some!!

Red, White, and Blue

Slacking on the blogging again, but not on the sewing.

Whipped up these two tops (one more to go) for the littles.

I got the shorts done after it was too late to take an outdoor pic.

Then I tried it on the littlest little.

Middle little will get hers this weekend.  And I still have to make one for big little (AKA Gabbie-Lou-Who).

My friend moved into a new home this past weekend so I whipped her up a quick gift.  She said she was going to decorate in colonial blues.  I'm not sure if these are colonial, but they are blue!

I forgot to take a picture before I mailed them; she sent me this picture of them on her new dining table as soon as she opened them.

Small Fabric Tray

In keeping with my new 'resolution' to post at least once (and hopefully twice) a week, today I am posting my second post in five days!

I found a wonderful tutorial for this fabric tray over at A Spoonful Of Sugar and gave it a try.  Mine is not quite as pretty as theirs, but it was really quick and easy to make and I will definitely be making more.  I think I'll make a couple for my desk at work for paperclips and pushpins, and maybe even some little chocolates. :-)

There's a tutorial for a hexagon shaped one also.  I plan to give it a try soon.

Edited 5/26/15 to add pics of this one I whipped up at lunch today and took to the office with me.

The Cliff Notes ..

I've been MIA from blogging, but I've been sewing!!

Got this fq bundle from Fort Worth Fabrics a few weeks ago because I wanted to make some placemats for my bff's 'new to her' camper.  She wanted to decorate in aqua/red.  I love how this bundle blends just the right shade of pink as well.

I got the camper fabric for the backing from eBay and and had the red dots on hand (I believe they came from Hancock Fabrics).

I loved the fabric so much, and had enough left to make my mom a set of placemats as well.

The backing and binding for hers came from Hancock Fabrics.

These two sweet babies came over for a visit on the Saturday before Mother's Day.  I call them my cookie monsters.  They love their Nilla wafers!

And at my Mom's on the Sunday after Mother's Day.

I also managed to finish up a commissioned order for a purse.

With a matching pouch / keystrap.

This little one's Momma got pneumonia and had to be in the hospital for five days so I took a week off work (so thankful for a job where I can do that) and kept her.  Oh my goodness what fun we had.  Especially when food was involved.

And this fashion diva got new specs.

So that sort of catches you up (not really, but hey, it's Cliff Notes, right?)

And I'm going to try to do a lot better at blogging from now on.

Back In Business

After a hiatus, my Etsy shop is now open again.

Through the holidays I sold items at a local shop Art.Craft.Play and it was a wonderful experience.

The owner, Shannon was great to work with and I sold quite a few items from Oct to December.

Business is slower after the holidays and she is cutting her hours back for the next three months or so,  so I'm back in business with my Etsy shop now.

Here are just a few items you will find listed.

New Year, New Project

I put away everything I was working on previously and started a new project today. I was just so burned out on everything I was rushing to finish, things I had to put on hold to finish Christmas (lots of stuff I just never even got to) so I packed it all away yesterday and brought out a new bundle (well, I bought it months ago, but an unopened bundle).

I just need to start fresh, take my time, and enjoy the process.

Year End ....

2014 saw a lot of big events for the babies in our family.

Our first baby started Kindergarten this year.  She is doing wonderful and loving every minute of it.  Her speech is improving daily, and she's growing up so fast.

We added this sweet baby to our family this year ......

And she is already so grown up!

And this sweet girl found out she is going to be a big sister!  So we are really looking forward to 2015!

Getting them all to sit still for a pic on Christmas Eve was quite the chore.  And next year we will have another one to add in the mix.  Yay!  This has been a very good year for this Gamma!

Here's to 2015!
