Half Hexie Quilt Along

Lesson 3 of the Hexies By Halves Quilt Along with Polly.

All the fabrics are cut ... now I'm struggling with placement.  Maybe it'll look different in the light of a new day (or in the light of any day, I can't really tell anything about it in artificial light).

  1. This is looking nice. In the bottom left hand corner,I would switch the white with the blackish one third row over, second from the bottom.... Maybe, I was trying the breakup the clump of three black...but by changing that, you would make a clump of low volumes too. Hmmm..I'm not much help. . Good luck! Lol I find it always helps to take a picture and mull over it and see it with new eyes.have a great day!

  2. I think it looks great so far! The white one in the bottom corner looks a little washed out in the picture, but I don't think it's a problem with your layout...I think it's because it's close to the same color as your background. As I'm looking at the different fabrics, it seems like you've got similar numbers of each and they're pleasantly spread out. I usually start by getting the whole thing "roughed in" and then switch hexies out here and there until I'm satisfied. Just keep going! It's looking good. I know I sometimes spend as much time trying to get the layout perfect as I do actually sewing the pieces together.
